Default String Test?

I have heard of the term "string test" that is used to help determine a horses height, but I am wondering if someone can tell me what exactly it is?

The string test is a way to determine the finished height of a growing horse but I don't remember the exact details....

Take a string, hold one end on the point of the shoulder then the other end to the middle of the knee, hold the knee mark and bring that end up above the withers. When fully grown the horse "should" be the same distance from the point of the shoulder to the knee as he is from the point of the shoulder to the top of the withers. So, if the measurement from the point of the shoulder to the knee is longer than that to the withers, the horse "should" grow the amount of the difference.
