Default Riding with two reins

How do you hold the two reins i.e. like when you are riding in a pelham or a double bridle?

When riding in the double, I was taught to hold the snaffle reins like normal, between your ring finger and pinky, then you hold the curb rein with your middle finger. (between your third and fourth fingers.) You also want to put slightly more tension on the snaffle. For a pelham I don't know, I don't ride in pelhams but if I did I would use the same method.
