Default Standing bandages

I had a really good lesson today and we did quite a bit of jumping. After the lesson my trainer said on days like today I should wrap my horse with no bows and standing bandages. So I am off to the tack shop to pick up said items. My question is what do the standing bandages do exactly?

I am guessing your trainer is trying to keep your horses legs from stocking up (filling with fluid) after a hard workout. Just make sure that someone who really knows how to bandage either does it for you or shows you how or you can do more harm then good if you bandage incorrectly. Even with the no bows you can still bow a tendon.

Thanks I figured it had something to do with protecting the legs. And yes my instructor is going to show me how to wrap the legs. I imagine I will practice quite a few times before I leave them on overnight.
