Thick and Luxerious tails

So I have been trying a long time to get my horse's tail nice and thick and strong and shiney. So far not much luck. It's thin, wispy and kind of scragly. I wash it almost weekly and condition it. For those with beautiful tails, what are you doing to get them that way? I am so jelouse of a nice thick tail!

Don't brush your horse's tail very often. Just detangle with your fingers. Brushing breaks and pulls out the hairs. I would say you are washing it too much and stripping it leaving it dry and prone to breakage. Just use a leave-in conditioner instead. I like to massage leave-in conditioner into the base/roots and then pull it through the entire tail with a wide toothed comb or my fingers. I will use cowboy magic detangler/sheen about once a week to keep it silky and tangle free. Wash maybe only once a month.
