Default Ross Hanson Clinic June 10-12 2011

Micheal Humphreys, on behalf of Mr. Ross Hanson, wishes to invite the cattle working public to a cattle working clinic at Still Meadows Ranch. Ross clinics are fun and usually something memorable happens. BASIC CLINIC
(Max. eight people)
Requirements for this clinic:
Your horse needs to be in reasonable shape
You need a western saddle with back cinch
Spurs and proper footwear.
GOALS
This clinic is to teach basic cow skills to you and your horse, how to move off leg, stop properly and in time, rollbacks and leads. It is open to anyone that wants to chase a cow with a horse. Ross and his assistants will cover the foundation work you will need to work cows to progress to the advanced group. This group is also encouraged to stay and watch the advanced group and ask questions of the instructors to understand why they do what they do. Ross and Dan will also work privately with participants in the group, at extra cost, after the clinic to address any specific problems or to further their advancement into the advanced group. Rates for private or group lessons out of clinic time are to be negotiated by the instructor and additional facility fees. if applicable, paid to SMR.
This Clinic will use a mechanical cow and finish with real cows.
COST A two day clinic with the Friday pre Clinic is $325.00 per person CAD (eight hrs.total instruction).

ADVANCED CLINIC
(max six people with basic clinic running; 10 with two advanced clinics)
Requirements for this clinic:
You must attend the pre-clinic (friday evening) or have arrangements made with Ross.
Your Horse is expected to be in shape so it can handle four hours of hard riding. It must stop and back up straight. It should understand cow side leg, and how to move off leg. It must roll back and leave with the correct lead and desired speed. You may bring a second horse if the first becomes injured or cannot handle the work.
GOALS
This clinic is aimed on inproving the horses efficiency and your speed; it is not intended to teach your horse basic cattle skills. Ross intends to work on cooperation and communication skills with you and your horse through improved reining skills. He will help you better read a cow and determine the proper way to work the cow you are faced with. He will inform you of your bad habits and will offer solutions to any problems you might have.
This clinic will us use a mechanical cow and real cows
COST
A two day clinic with the friday Pre-clinic is $325.00 CAD per person(3hours total instruction) plus a $40 cattle charge to cover the extra cattle required by this group for a total of $365.00 CAD

Saturday Steak Fry
Location TBA>>> Cost is $10.00 per person for us to supply the streak. or no charge if you supply your own steak for us to fry for you.
Each participant in the clinic is asked to bring a side dish if they wish to participate (i.e. potato, veggies,salad,desert,etc. Non- alcoholic drinks will be provided (i.e water,soda). THis event is open to participants and their families- Please RSVP so we know how many to expect.
